My Self-Publishing Story by Ruth Tynes

📖🛍️ Hi!!! I'm Ruth Tynes and I've been "a Lifestyle Blogger" since The 90's... Long story, lol. Except it wasn't called that back then. My motto is "Fashion + Entertainment + Faith + Fun" and for over 2 Decades (almost my entire life, lol) I have published thousands of Articles, Magazines, Books, Pamphlets, Blog Posts, Social Media PostsPodcasts, and Videos on these Topics. I am very proud of The Collection that I have built.
I am not operating a non-profit organization. I do not have tax-exempt status. I do not pay my bills with donation money. I do not pay my bills with government grants. I am not affiliated with, employed by, and/or financially supported by any Religious Denomination or Sect. After I graduated from High School, I decided to earn my Bachelor of Science Degree in Christian Ministries from Bible College. I also decided to earn double minors, one in Youth Ministry and another in Business. I was not given an Honorary Degree, I did it the old fashioned way, long years in classrooms with expensive tuition costs, lol.
I was strongly advised against taking the Self-Publishing path. Especially as a young, single, female Writer specializing in Christian Faith Topics. I was told that the only way to succeed, was to attach myself onto a pre-established group that already had built-in Customers (a Denomination, their Churches, and their Congregants) with budgets specifically for buying religious teaching materials. Year after Year... Repeat Customers. Guaranteed. They were right. Religion is Big Business. God sells. Jesus sells. Every time. (see Luke 16:13-15)
That's why my Number 1 Goal has always been to give as much content as my 24 Hours a Day, 7 Days a Week God-given time allotment permitted (lol) for free. To prove a point. Unfortunately, too many people "do ministry" because they know money is already there to pay them to do it. If they aren't guaranteed a paycheck, a sale, a bulk order, a speaking engagement on a Church pulpit to promote their products, a publishing deal, a suggested donation price, a love offering, social media monetization, etc. then they're gone. Never to be seen "in ministry" ever again. (see Luke 18:18-30)
That's sad. That's weird. That's giving major Judas (see Matthew 26:14-16), Bar-Jesus (see Acts 13:4-12), and 'den of robbers' (see Matthew 21:12-17, Mark 11:15-19, Luke 19:45-48) vibes. It's creepy. I don't want to be like that. I hope you don't want to be like that either. =)
Spotlight Bible Verse magazine is a Business, so I do sell products. But even if you never buy one thing, my show still goes on!!! (LOL) Because I know that this is what God called me to do. (see Acts 5:38-39) No. Matter. What. ;) Thanks for stopping by.
Love, Ruth 💋
